Following the recent announcement of the MacKeeper legal settlement, malware developers are creating routines that redirect people from the settlement site to nefarious Web pages that use javascript hacks to “lock” a browser. When this happens, you will see an alert window that has an OK button, but clicking the button just pops open another alert. Often these alerts are formatted to appear official, and contain details about security problems and require you call some provided number to free your system. Sometimes they may outright demand a ransom to fix your system. This is a common trap used by cybercriminals to convince people to hand over money, and is being used by interested parties to block access to the MacKeeper settlement options. This approach is often taken when new malware removal techniques and tools are published online. Unfortunately it means that those who are in need of the information or tools

Don’t Ever Install this on your mac ! Customers who purchased MacKeeper before July 8, 2015 can file a claim to request a full refund of the purchase price. Customers must submit a claim form before November 30, 2015 to become a part of the class action settlement. More than 500,000 people have purchased MacKeeper, paying prices up to $39.95, and buyers will be contacted via email about the settlement. Because of its aggressive marketing tactics, often appearing in intrusive pop-up and pop-under ads, MacKeeper has earned a negative reputation with most Mac users, who believe it’s little more than bloatware. As part of the $2 million settlement earmarked for refunds, ZeoBIT will not need to admit any fault in regards to claims of deceptive advertising and making false claims about the software’s capabilities. MacKeeper is no longer ZeoBIT property, having been sold to Kromtech in April of 2013.

What can we expect from the new iPhone released in a few weeks (September). . . . . . ? The iPhone camera has, in terms of megapixels, stayed the same since the announcement of the iPhone 4S back in 2011. Where Apple’s rivals have decided to cram as many megapixels into their cameras as possible, Apple decided to concentrate on the internals of the camera to improve quality – as any photographer will tell you, more megapixels doesn’t always equate to better quality. With this being said, rumours suggest that Apple is set to offer a 12Mp camera with the iPhone 6S. The rumours also suggest that the next-gen iPhone will offer “DSLR-quality imagery” with a two-lens system capable of 3D images, however this may not be the case as leaked CAD designs suggest that the next iPhone will have only a single lens. There’s also a rumour suggesting

Is you iPhone for “real” ? Beijing police have shut down a large iPhone counterfeiting ring within the city that had managed to produce more than 41,000 fake versions of the flagship smartphone, some of which even managed to reach the United States (via Reuters). All told, the ring’s counterfeit production had grown to be worth as much as 120 million yuan (about $19 million). The police have arrested a total of nine suspects thought to be involved directly in the counterfeiting operation, all due to a combined effort to enforce stricter counterfeit and intellectual property laws in China. Of the nine arrested were a 43-year-old man and his 40-year-old wife, whom police believe ran the counterfeit scam under a gadget maintenance shop front before the operation was raided in May. The counterfeit iPhone — and now Apple Watch — market has grown in China since the device’s debut, and only became more

The upcoming documentary, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, portrays Jobs as both a tech visionary and unapologetic leader throughout his career at Apple. Magnolia Pictures has shared the first trailer  for Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine with just over four months after the film premiered at SXSW 2015 in Austin, Texas.
Siri, Apple’s voice assistant for iPhone and iPad that was first introduced with the iPhone 4S in 2011, is one funny virtual guy (or gal, depending on which Voice Gender you’ve chosen). Here, we bring you a list of 45 questions that you should try asking Siri. You might be surprised by some of the answers. Don’t forget to ask them more than once for various different results. When is the world going to end? Tell me a story OK Glass What are you wearing? What is the meaning of life? What does Siri mean? I’m sleepy If you’ve watched the movie Her, you should ask Siri “Are you Her?” Do you follow the three laws of robotics? Open the pod bay door What’s your favourite animal? What is the best smartphone? Stop it Siri Mirror Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all

It’s unclear whether that new tick-tock approach is happening or not, but at least for this year Apple’s OS releases seem to be tocking. That’s good. Adding support for Metal on OS X may not seem like a great user feature, but it’ll speed up apps, creative-professional suites and games alike. Fixing bugs isn’t necessarily something to be shouted to the stratosphere, but if you’re someone who’s been bitten by those bugs, it can be a huge relief. 1.Spotlight as search engine Some people love clicking around looking for things, whether it’s on their computer or on the internet. For those people we have navigation bars on websites and the Finder on the Mac. But some people would really rather just type what they’re looking for into a box and hope that the result works for them. The better the results from those searches get, the more time you can

Siri is constantly improving: it became faster and more reliable than ever with iOS 7 and iOS 7.1, gaining new features and a female voice for the UK, and iOS 8 added music identification, “‘Hey Siri!” voice activation and real-time feedback of the words Siri thinks you’re saying. Siri is a massive leap forward over old-fashioned speech recognition. This used to require a strict vocabulary and couldn’t do very much. Worse still, for non-Americans, voice recognition struggled with European, Australian and other accents. Siri doesn’t require a strict vocabulary, and it’ll generally figure out what you’re trying to say. That makes interacting with it seem much more natural. It also works pretty well with a range of accents, and has American, British and Australian settings, as well as French, German, Italian, Spanish and more. The iOS 8.3 update introduced new languages including Russian, Danish, Dutch, Thai, Swedish, Turkish and Portuguese. Siri is comprehensive. It’s tied into
